Brimfield Railroad Prairie Nature Preserve

Brimfield Railroad Prairie Nature Reserve is a 6 acre 1/2 mile long restored native prairie open to the public for many activities including birding, hiking, butterfly watching, nature enjoyment, and education. It contains over 100 native prairie plant species which are a critical part of the food web for many species of birds, butterflies, and bees, including four reintroduced populations of the state endangered Queen of the Prairie. It was donated to Peoria Audubon society in August 2010.

 

Jubilee College State Park

Jubilee College State Park is a 3.200 acre facility between the towns of Kickapoo & Brimfield, right off US Route 150. This scenic area, with its rolling topography and meandering Jubilee Creek, offers a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities.

 

Jubilee College State Historic Site

Jubilee College State Historic Site preserves a remnant of the school funded in 1839 by Philander Chase, the first Episcopal Bishop of IL. At one time, the school included a theological seminary, a college, a classical preparatory school for boys, a seminary for girls, as well as small farming operations. In 1972, the Jubilee College site was added to the national Register of Historic Places. Guided tours are offered.
